McDonalds, Svensk Form and Gustavsberg has teamed up to present a design competition that sounds quite exiting; create new patterns for McDonalds coffee cups. Three winners will be selected by a jury and have their patterns printed on all McDonalds’ coffee cups this summer plus a scholarship of 20.000 kr. One of the patterns will also be printed by Gustavsberg on real porcelain cups in a limited edition.
The competition opens tomorrow, January 10th, when more information will be available at the campaign site.

The Swedish Post office is trying new ways to get people to send postcards for Christmas. At this campaign site you can write or draw a postcard online, choose a front, pay the postage via SMS and a printed version of the card will be sent off to the addressee. In Swedish.

Swedens second largest cinema operator Sandrews was recently bought by Triangelfilm and renamed ”Astoria”. Stockholm DesignLab created not only a new logo but website, interior design, displays etc. As always, Stockholm DesignLab delivers top of the line-work. Furniture producer Swedese open the doors to its new shop and showroom in Stockholm, Sweden on December 9. The showroom will display the entire Swedese furniture collection, accompanied by a selective range of design carpets, lighting and accessories.

As part of the ongoing war-poster exhibition at The Royal Library in Stockholm (October14—January 31), a series of lectures is held on Thursdays at 18.00 hrs. This Thursday its about Anders Beckman, Swedish advertising pioneer and founder of Beckmans College of Design.
The Royal Library has a collection of ca 500.000 posters in their vaults, a small fraction of the collection is available online.
